https://www.youtube.com/shorts/KUhZyylLTNA --short video, showcasing 10 years of dry stone spheres.

I was asked, “how does one get into this field. Is it possible to pursue as a hobby? Any recommendations?”

I started as a laborer by day while working on my arts at night. It’s possible to do manual work all day keeping a small idea notebook in your pocket. When the boss wasn’t looking, I’d quick jot down an idea. Maybe a song, or just a line, or a plot idea for a story.

So I learned multiple trades over a decade, and then started my own business (in 2007). Shortly thereafter I and began manifesting my artistic ideas through the medium of stone, using skills developed over a decade working in the trades.

Did my first juried show last week.

Squiggly Noodle was awarded an honorable mention and I sold a stone bench.

Not too shabby, right? And for a first-timer. Next time, the plan is to sell a larger piece, and walk off with first or second place.

(EDIT so I guess I'll leave the post up, until I have something else to journal about, but I had to change the title at least)

7 years.

Then I was banned for no reason. Now the account is restored.....but all my watchers are gone, critiques that I have written for other artists are gone, my daily deviations disappeared.

Phooey, amiright? Yea, I'm right.

So who cares about DD's? I can get more. The critiques....that hurts. I wrote a loving review for an awesome work of art--my gift to the artist--and now it's gone. Loosing my audience is rough too. So now if I post new art, no one will see it?

IDK if I'm done with this platform or not at this point.

7 years, deviantart, 7 years. How could you?

EDIT, this was just a mistake and Moonbeam has not only owned that, but has tried to make it better. What more could I ask for? Previous watchers are gone, but new people are coming around and final word--okay DA, I'll hang around :)
