26 years with stone, so far. 10 years in, around 16 or 17 years ago, I began an experiment, a demonstration, and called it Devine Escapes.

Poetry was my first medium. Story and song. Why then, is the demonstration difficult to put into words? Is the subject matter really so slippery, and numinous--or is it just too big? I stand with my eyes bugged out and mouth gaping, at the wonders I have seen, too awed to speak. I see superfluous beauty, everywhere. I see resilience too. Also, I see something that usually escapes notice and certainly escapes my ability to describe--but it gives me hope and even joy and love, no matter what goes down in this world.

The adventure continues.

I called it slippery and numinous, as if it were a thing of smoke or of water. But it's a thing of stone. A certain thing, with definite mass and presence. We can engage our rational minds to describe it but we have to engage the heart to try and understand it.
